RE: Procedures this year should school ever have to close due to snow or any other circumstance

Any closure due to snow or other unforeseen circumstance will be communicated to you as soon as possible on the morning via your My Child at School text message and on Class Dojo. The information will also be displayed on our website and on our X handle @kingsmeadowacad. Although we make every effort to stay open in the event of heavy snow, we thank you in advance of your understanding that the health, safety and wellbeing of our school family is our number one priority.

We have plans in place to simply switch your children’s learning to MS Teams in the event of school not being able to open on any given day. Teams is extremely easy to use and can be accessed via most devices with internet access e.g. laptop, IPad, tablet, Xbox, Playstation, Smart TV etc.

Online learning

Your child’s class teachers will be live on Microsoft Teams during each morning to demonstrate the online learning which will be dropped into their pupil folders. We appreciate that not everyone will have access to printers and laptops and so the work set will be simple to access and will, at most, only require paper and pencils. Details on how to access Microsoft Teams is also provided on our website Home Learning Platforms – King’s Meadow Academy (kingsmeadowacademy.org), and your child has been given their login details for all their online apps including Teams, Times Tables Rockstars and Accelerated Reader. Children have been shown how to log on to the apps today in school.

Follow the link to Microsoft Teams on the school website https://kingsmeadowacademy.org/ and follow the instructions under Curriculum and Home Learning Platform. The timetable for the morning learning is shown below and will be the same each day:

Children are already allocated in a team with the other children in their year group. Teachers will be remaining online during the morning session to offer support through the chat function.

If the children would also like to take part in other online tasks and lessons, please visit Oak National Activity to find videos and tasks for a range of curriculum areas – https://classroom.thenational.academy/subjects-by-key-stage

At King’s Meadow Academy, we consider that it is essential for all our children to have access to fun and exciting learning opportunities in school and at home. Below is login information for various online platforms that we use, which will allow your child to access a range of activities and curriculum resources.

Please contact your child’s class teacher if they are having difficulty logging on.
